Repetition

The horses and people in the picture are being repeated.

The buildings around the city are being repeated.

Happy Halloween

The barbie dolls are being repeated vertical and horizontal.

What the Pros are doing.

1.) Focal length of lens - Canon EOS-5D, EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye.

2.) Shutter Speed - shot at 1/1600 f/2.8

3.) What is the effect of shooting at this shutter speed? You can see the car clearly instead of blurry like most photos would be.

4.) Aperture- 15mm

5.) What is the effect (Depth of field) of shooting at this aperture? The picture looks darker than it actually is and you can see the red in the background better.

6.) Position - Describe where you think the photographer was standing to get this shot. I think he was standing right inside the gate, because there is no gate that you can see, but he has to be standing a little far back, because the car is so small in the photo.

Show and Tell

This is where the video I chose is, it should be on the top of the page:
http://photoblog.statesman.com/page/8

I chose this picture because it has great color and everything stands out like it should.
I chose the video because its sad and it really got to me. Its really good to do something like that, so you ca think about what really happened and what would happen if that was someone you knew or it was you.

Filling the Frame

I think this photo fill the frame the best, because you can see see the other people in the background, but you can also tell that the main part is about the girl, who seems to be daydreaming.

Action and Emotion

This photo shows the best action and emotion because the girl is getting her blood drawn. The emotion is that you can really see her pain in her face, but you can tell that she still wants to do this and get it done with.

The Story

This photo tells the best story because you can really see the difference between the two girls. One girl is really happy or scared or something like that, and the other is freaked out, because they are dissecting something. I think this picture was taken just as the blond girl opened what ever they are dissecting and she thought it was either really funny or really surprising.

ATPI Fall Contest Picture

This photo is powerful because it really speaks to you in the way that you can tell that the girl in the picture is feeling sad or depressed, which in turn, make you sad or depressed, through empathy.
The lighting in this photo is dim, which makes the photo look more depressing, because the only color is the magenta umbrella.
This photo has many do's and don't's. Starting with it looks like the metal bars are growing out of the girl, so they did a bad job on not merging. But the metal bars are also like leading lines, because they are leading toward the girl. It also has symmetry, because if you split the girl in half the picture will be split in half. And finally it has the composition of background because the background is very simple, for it is just a plain gray.
The exposure is good, because it is not completely dark, but its not really light. It is perfect for this picture.

Great Black and White Photgraphers, part 3

1. a. When I first saw this photo the thing that caught my eye was that their is a doll in the middle of the ocean, well a doll head in the middle and the background is the ocean. I think it is very abstract photo, because of the doll. I chose this photo because of its abstractness and it really caught my eye that it was abstract.
2. a. I see the ocean, the vast, huge ocean. I see a doll in the middle. It makes me think I need to take a picture of it, because it is abstract and not ordinary.
I smell the ocean air. It smells like salt. It makes me calm. It reminds me of playing on the beach with my family on Christmas in Guam.
I hear the wind blow in my ears and the waves crashing on the shore. I hear the sea gulls calling to each other. It is so peaceful.
I feel wind blow past my face and blow my hair all around. I feel the splashing of the water on my feet, it feels nice and cool as the sun makes me feel warm.
I taste the salt water as the waves splash on my face. I taste the salt water in the air. It makes my face nice and cool.
1. b. When I first saw this picture I thought of a lily on a pond. It looks so peaceful and calm, and that is why I chose this photo.
2. b. I see a pond with beautiful white lilies, just sitting their on the pond. I see some frogs on the lilies. It reminds me of walking on the pier with my family in Australia
I smell the water and the trees around the pond. I am in a forest with a little pond with these white lilies on them.
I hear the frogs crock and the wind blow past me ears. I hear the birds and the little waves in the pond made by frogs jumping in and out of it.
I taste the water and the sun upon my face. It feels so good to have the water on my face. I can also taste the snack I just had.
I feel the water on my skin. And the softness of the flowers. I catch a frog and it is slimy and gross.
3. I would like to show the class and the rest of the school by making a power point presentation. I love power point presentations because not only can you tell about the topic you need to but you can also put your own touch on it by making each slide different and it show that you can be creative. I also like posters, but I can't really be creative on posters because I can't draw or anything, I'll just use the same things over and over again.

Composition Photos'; celebrates from twilight, part 2

Balancing Elements. This photo show balancing elements because Kristen is off center and in the background there is the guy who plays James. The light from the windows, James, and the rest of the background balance out with Kristen to make this photo a balanced photo.

Viewpoint. This is a different viewpoint because it is up a little above the heads of the charters. Which changes the view you take toward the photo, not only the way you look at it.

Background. This belongs in background because the charaters clothes are blended in with the background. So it makes Their white skin and faces stand out more.

Create Depth. You can see the tree are tall, and it feels like you are actually looking up at the sky though the trees. Which in end creates depth, because you can see the tallness of the trees.

Cropping. The original photo is of their whole bodies. This photo is cropped because they went to a close up of just their faces.

Photo Composition; celebraties from twilight, part 1

This picture of Taylor Lautner shows Leading Lines and Simplicity/Background. The line in the Simple background are not completely horizontal, but titled to the side by a couple degrees. It show Simplicity because it is a black and white photo.

This photo of him shows Rule of Thirds. It is Rule of Thirds because the bright red fire hydrant is in the bottom box of the squares. And Taylor is in the top 3.

This photo show Framing, because Taylor and Kristen are being framed in the window. The window frame is around them, making it look like they are being framed in the window.

This photo show how to make merges work. The photographer was trying to merge everything together, and it worked, but maybe a little too much. You don't want to merge because then, like in this picture, it looks like something is growing out of someone (ie The tree is growing out of Kristen).

This photo show Symmetry and Patterns because everything is symmetrical. Except for Dakota's dress, because she has one shoulder covered, but not the other. Also her stance isn't straight so those are patterns in the photo, its symmetrical, but not completely, making it more appealing.

Hurricane Ike

This photo has simplicity and balance because it is very simple, in there is one point and that is the cemetery itself. Its balanced because it has geometric figures like rectangular prisms and others.

This photo has rule of thirds because the "Dead End" sign in to the side, so you can see the people in the background. I like this picture because now, it is really a Dead End.

This photo has framing, because the horse and house are framed inside the fence. It is interesting because the horse is still standing there with all the water and it is like nothing happened.
