My Pinhole Pics

Differences:
-The positive is the opposite of the negative, the tree is on the opposite side.
-In the bottom left corner of the negative, there are lines, but in the bottom right of the positive, there are no lines.

Definition of negative:
-noting an image in which the brightness values of the subject are reproduced so that the lightest areas are shown as the darkest.
-a tonal inversion of a positive image, in which light areas appear dark and vice versa.

The minor bending on the corners of the photos is caused by interference by the foil used, or the chemicals used.

Great black and white photographers, part 2.

Imogen Cunningham was born in Portland, Oregon on April 12, 1883. At the age of 18 she bought her first camera, a 4x5 inch view camera, from the American School of Art. After that she lost intrest in photographing and sold the camera to a friend. But in 1906, while studing at the University of Washington in Seattle, that she was inspired by an encounter with the work of Gertrude Kasebeir to take up photography again. With the help of her Chemistry professor, she studied the chemistry behind photography. In 1915 and 1920 Cunningham continued her work, but she also had three children (Gryffd, Rondal, and Padraic) with Roi. In 1920 she moved from Seattle for San Francisco. While there Cunningham refined her style taking a greater intrest in pattern and detail.

Rule of Thirds

The photo is not centered. The people and trucks are to the bottom, right. This is how it shows Rule of Thirds.

Avoiding Mergers

I picked this photo for merges because the man is merging with the background. They are the same color, so we want to avoid that. You can barely see his face or any part of him.

Framing

This photo is framed because the small brownish building is framed between the two sky scrapers. The smoke is also framed into the building because there is still a perfect line of the building, the smoke does not block it.

Balance

This photo has balance because there are many geometric shapes put into it. There are squares that the building make and their are quadrilaterals that the streets make.

Lines

The lines in this photo are vertical and when I see it, I think of falling, like the man in the photo. The man is almost invisible because of the way of the lines.

Simplicity

This photo is very simple, so it shows Simplicity. You can see how the buildings are falling and how the smoke is blocking the sky. But I love how the bright blue sky is the background on this picture. Because when you look at just the sky it makes you feel happy, but then you see the main part of the photo and you feel sad for the people in the building.

Pictures from others Blogs

These two pictures I got from past students blogs that were in Photo J. I like the one on the bottom because it is different, well, both of them are differnent, but the one on the left is a dog firehydrate, which is kind of Ironic. The one on the top is intresting because it looks real and it might be, but it is really intresting because if you think about it the giraffe is suppose to be a horse.

Pinhole camera photo I Dislike

I don't like this picture because, really, its a buit creepy. I don't like how it looks like the moon in the background, but a man is walking. It looks to me like a stalker and that just say creepy! Also it is a bit blury, but that just adds to the creepy effect!

Pinhole Camera photo I Like!

This is a picture I found on the internet taken by a pinhole camera. I like this picture because I like landscapes. I like how around the edges its dark and then in the middle its really bright! I also like how they captured the blues and greens from the trees, grass, and sky.

Photo I DisLike

This is the photo I took that I don't like, because it is a weird angle. I also don't like it, because I think it has too much background. If I could change it I would have moved a little in front of her and zoomed into her face a little.

Photo I Like

This photo is my favorite photo that I look. I like this photo because the subject looks like she is dreaming. I angled the camera which made the photo look a little titled.
